Congratulations Audrey - Idaho Guide of the Year
We are proud to announce that Audrey Gehlhausen was recently selected as the "Boating Guide of the Year" by the Idaho Outfitters and Guides Association.
About Audrey
Audrey is one of those guides that guests can’t get enough of. She is smart, funny, charming, and just the perfect amount of quirky. Kids adore her silly sense of humor and fun-loving spirit. Adults want to know more about her academic career as a geologist and love her intelligent, personable nature. Her fellow guides love having her on the crew and the office staff loves her too. Her positive attitude makes her an invaluable addition to ECHO.
Audrey has worked for ECHO for the past 7 summers and has been licensed in Idaho for 6 of those years. She spent her first season working for us on the Rogue River. While she had a great first season with us, she was passionate about guiding on the Middle Fork of the Salmon and has been there ever since. She’s been our sweep boat driver for 4 years. Being in the sweep boat, she doesn’t get an opportunity to interact with guest during the day. However, Audrey is always a key part of the social energy of the trip and often guests’ favorite guide of the trip.
If you haven’t heard one of Audrey’s famous geology talks, you’re missing out! She has a Bachelor of Science degree in geology from DePauw University and is known for her hilarious and unique geology talks that everyone loves and remembers. She specifically chose to be a professional guide on the Middle Fork Salmon because of it’s incredible geology and loves sharing her knowledge with guests.
When not driving sweep, Audrey is also a wonderful trip leader or head chef. She is always safety conscious and has impeccable skills on the water - she is a Wilderness First Responder and Swiftwater Rescue Technician. As trip leader she has the respect and friendship of her fellow guides. She has helped us hone our menu throughout the years and is a fantastic and inventive cook. Audrey is an all-around fantastic guide.
