August on the Middle Fork of the Salmon
August is one of our favorite months on the Middle Fork for so many reasons.

Fishing, families, and fun on the Middle Fork
August is a perfect time for families. The water levels are a lot lower than in June and there are a lot more opportunities for swimming. The temperatures are lovely in and out of the water. Warm days and cool nights provide guests the optimal wilderness experience.
August is the best time for fishing on the Middle Fork. Because of clear water, no upstream dams, and stringent catch and release policies, the trout population thrives on the Middle Fork. You can fish from the oar boats, from camp, or from the numerous side creeks that are home to abundant fish populations. ECHO guides know the best fishing spots and will be happy to point them out to you.
Another big plus is that once we start running trips from Indian Creek, we will have inflatable kayaks available all the time. There is nothing like a day or half day being in a “ducky”.

Duckies on the Middle Fork
We love the Middle Fork at any time of the year, it’s true, but there’s something extra special about later summer trips that we encourage our guests to experience.
